Helmut Spiehs has over 30 years of experience in the development, production and global marketing of solid wood products and construction solutions. Already during his studies of Industrial Engineering and Economics at the Technical University of Graz (Austria) Helmut was involved in the early development of cross-laminated timber (CLT). From 1998 to 2006 he developed and established the Europe-wide marketing and sales for one of the world’s first CLT producers. Since 2006, Helmut has been working as a managing director within the Austrian binderholz group, leading all global developments related to timber construction products, structures and building solutions. Together with his fellow managing directors, Helmut is responsible for 500 employees across two binderholz CLT BBS production facilities; a sales, engineering, and research site; as well as the b_solution production unit.
