Emily’s mission is to make buildings behave more like plants, and industries more like forests. She has been practicing architecture for over 20 years, with 10 years of focus in mass timber and modular structural systems.

Her portfolio of sustainably focused building and infrastructure projects in multiple sectors has given her a broad view of the industry, as well as a passion for breaking boundaries in the profession.

Her experience includes co-founding a volumetric modular housing system, founding a wood-fiber-based structural prefab startup, and serving on the board of Green Canopy NODE.

She writes the building industry and carbon chapters for the annual International Mass Timber Report.

Emily founded a product innovation company, Single Widget, in 2022, and opened her consulting practice, Field Edge, in 2024.
