Danika Irvine

A graduate from the University of Waterloo for both her undergrad and masters, Danika is passionate about sustainability in architecture. She also has a fascination with master planning and creating systems in which architecture plays a key role. Throughout her undergraduate studies, Danika alternated between academic semesters and work placements, which she completed across Canada and abroad. Her first placement was in Innsbruck, Austria, doing various competitions around Europe. Next she worked at Public Works and Government Services Canada in Ottawa, maintaining the parliamentary heritage portfolio. Danika then carried on to St. John’s where she worked on various schools and community centres across Newfoundland and Labrador. She then did a stint in Melbourne, Australia, renovating heritage-listed single-family homes as well as various competitions overseas before her final co-op in Toronto, which focused on healthcare and educational facilities.

Danika’s recent design experience is varied and includes projects such as the New Westminster Secondary School Design-Build competition, and Britton Middle School in California in association with Quattrocchi Kwok Architects. She served as project architect for the Stitó:s Lá:lém Totí:lt Elementary/Middle School in Chilliwack, and is the architect for Ta’talu Elementary School in Surrey.
