Anna Mackay is the Owner of Sister City (founded 2020) and Co-Founder of Shortstack Housing (founded 2021), both based in Portland, Oregon. Her projects deliver housing and childcare at attainable prices while utilizing elevated design and materials like cross-laminated timber. She is currently using the Shortstack development platform to deliver “missing middle” housing in the greater Portland region.

Anna’s placemaking prioritizes community benefit and achieves it through the inclusion of crowd-investing, bold public art, and affordability. Her projects range from beloved food halls to radically affordable housing. She explores the intersection of public and private partnerships to deliver buildings that are equal parts beautiful and attainable. She is invested in the proliferation of developers who are more representative of their communities.

Anna holds a degree in Architecture from the University of Virginia and a certificate in fine woodworking from Yestermorrow Design/Build school.
