Megan Zavertnik

Megan Zavertnik is a seasoned legislative strategist with more than a decade of experience on Capitol Hill working primarily on the National Defense Authorization Act and defense appropriation bill cycles. She advises clients on bipartisan, bicameral legislative strategy and lobbies the U.S. government on their behalf by identifying opportunities, drafting legislative language, developing stakeholder engagement strategies, and establishing and maintaining key relationships.

Prior to founding MZ Advising, Megan served as the National Security Advisor for a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and Chairman of the Committee’s Subcommittee on Seapower. In that role, Megan advised the Senator on all matters related to the Department of Defense and ensured the Senator’s priorities were reflected in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and related Congressional appropriations bills.

Megan also served in the House of Representatives, where she worked an additional six NDAA bill cycles.

Megan also has experience at the Department of Defense, where she supported the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment.

Megan holds a master’s degree in global policy from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and a bachelor’s degree in Chinese language and literature from the University of Florida.
