Russ Vaagen is the founder and CEO of Vaagen Timbers, based in Colville, Washington. Vaagen Timbers produces CLT, GLT, and glulam beams from sustainable sources. Prior to starting his mass timber company, Russ worked with his family at Vaagen Bros Lumber to produce structural lumber with a special focus on small logs. During that time Russ also served as the President for the Northeast Washington Forestry Coalition where he worked with local community leaders, conservation groups, and land managers to restore overgrown forests on public lands. Russ believes that mass timber has the unique opportunity to tie great forest management directly to new modern wooden buildings. Russ serves on the board of Sustainable Northwest and takes part in countless initiatives regarding sustainability, climate, and carbon. Russ is a graduate of Washington State University. He lives in Colville with Aleksandra and their three children where they enjoy all that the inland northwest offers for outdoor recreation.
