Sharon Gallant

Sharon Gallant, S.E. is a managing principal at KPFF, a nationally recognized structural and civil engineering company who are at the forefront of mass timber design with 75+ completed mass timber projects and actively contribute to advancing mass timber structural techniques through testing and research.

Sharon leads the Protective Design practice group, which specializes in hardening of facilities to mitigate the effects of human induced hazards, both accidental and intentional, including explosive events, armed attack, hostile vehicle, and others.

She has over 30 years of structural engineering and physical security consulting experience providing services across the U.S. for public and private clients, and on international projects, primarily U.S. embassy and military facilities. Her area of expertise includes forced entry and ballistic hardening, perimeter security, blast engineering, progressive collapse and seismic engineering.

She actively contributes to industry through her work with ASCE’s Blast, Shock, and Impact technical committee through which she served as co-editor of ASCE Manual of Practice No. 142, “Structural Design for Physical Security.”

Prior to joining KPFF, she was the Project Director at Hinman Consulting Engineers for 10 years and Associate Principal at Degenkolb Engineers for 15 years where she specialized in seismic and conventional design.
