The Art of Mass Timber: 10th Anniversary Art Exhibition
Booth 778Follow North America’s mass timber journey over the last decade through the eyes of four photographers.
The last 10 through a lens...
In the mid-2010s, the first modern mass timber buildings began to appear across North America. A decade later, the material has moved from a small idea to a rapidly growing movement — with more than 2,500 mass timber projects built or underway across the United States and Canada as of 2025. This exhibition reflects on that remarkable period of growth through the lens of four photographers who have closely followed the industry’s emergence.
The Art of Mass Timber features work from Marcus Kauffman, Nic Kielbasa, Ema Peter, and Lara Swimmer, each of whom has documented mass timber architecture from a distinct perspective. Drawn from a decade of projects across the continent, this curated selection highlights the beauty of mass timber structures, the people behind the craft, and the collaboration that brings them to life.
Together, these photographs capture the transformation of an evolving industry — revealing the process behind mass timber construction, the human stories embedded within each structure, and the promise of a material that reshapes how we think about architecture, climate resilience, and the buildings of tomorrow.
