Joshua Schultz, PhD, PE (CA, WA), LEED AP is a Senior Structural Engineer and Mass Timber Specialist at Siegel Structural Engineers, where he leads design and research initiatives focused on advanced timber systems and hybrid structural solutions. With nearly two decades of mass timber experience in structural engineering, teaching, and research, he has spent five years as auditor for international certification agency, spend multiple years helping stand up and optimize multiple mass timber plants and three years serving as Technical Director for a mass timber manufacturer, overseeing product development, testing, and code compliance.

Joshua’s expertise spans the full mass timber delivery chain—from product qualification and fabrication to structural design integration and field performance evaluation. He is an active member of several mass timber industry committees, including ANSI/APA PRG 320, Mass Timber Advisory Council (MassTac), and the WoodWorks National Mass Timber Technical Subcommittee, contributing to national standards that shape the future of timber design and construction.

Recognized as an educator, researcher and advocate for sustainable building systems, Joshua continues to bridge research, manufacturing, and practice to advance cost-effective, high-performance mass timber structures. Most recently, he has authored a book on “Structural Design of Lightweight Architecture” which includes mass timber.
